About The Ashtabula County Airport
The Ashtabula County Airport Authority
The Ashtabula County Airport Authority consists of nine members from the community and a Secretary/Treasurer. Members serve three year terms. Each year, three members are eligible for re-appointment. Members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Ashtabula County Commissioners. County residents can apply for an appointment to one of the open seats by filling out an application and submitting it to the Commissioners for consideration. Appointments are made in December of the year prior to expiration of the members term. Applications should arrive in the County Commissioner's Office no later than December 1 to be considered.
The Airport Authority meets on the second Monday of the month. Notices for the meeting are generally in the local newspapers on the Sunday prior to the meeting. Meetings are held at the airport and start at 12:00 PM.
The Airport Authority is governed by a set of By-Laws, which were last revised in October, 2005.
Minutes of the meetings of the Airport Authority are taken by the Secretary/Treasurer or designated alternate. Minutes summarize the discussions of the Board and any decisions taken by the Board. Approval of the minutes is given in the following meeting and, upon approval, are available to the public. Minutes of all meetings of the Airport Authority are accessible from this link.
The function of the Airport Authority is enhanced by the support of four Standing Committees. These are Administration, Operations, Finance, Planning and Projects. Each committee has three regular members from the Airport Authority and up to two community representatives. The Community Representatives are invited to participate in the committee by the committee chairperson on the basis of interest or special skills and serve at the pleasure of the committee chair. Meetings are at the call of the chairperson. Responsibilities of the committees are outlined in the committee charter.
